ProFx2 Introduction
ProFX2 is an engine and its associated content creation tools, the very first middleware dedicated to the design and the real-time generation of complex procedural content and effects.
ProFX2 is based on Allegorithmic’s patented "FX-Maps" technology, the most advanced procedural map generation model, allowing a full control over the procedural contents, while preserving the advantages of memory saving from traditional procedural methods.
ProFX2 is perfectly suited for Game Developers eager to reduce the storage space and the loading time footprints of their game. As an example,
ProFX2, with an average speed of 20MB/s, is (at least) 2 times faster than a DVD 8x to transfer the textures to the video memory.
-Design your textures and shaders within
MaPZone2 and save your files in a compact procedural format as a .pfx file.
-The .pfx file is the only one to be embedded within your game. This .pfx file contains the procedural description of the texture maps used to define the shaders that are applied onto your 3D mesh.
-Then, while executing the game, the .pfx file is rasterized by the
ProFX2 engine as bitmaps, to be used in the shader.
